Our refreshing Bay Rum splash is just the thing to soothe and cool your face after shaving. With its aromatic scent, it keeps you feeling good throughout the day. It also boasts astringent properties that helps relieve any small scratches or insect bites.
The West Indian Bay Tree is the source for Bay Essential Oil (pimenta racemosa). This is oil that, after distillation, has many uses in cottage industries that are too many to list. The use most often cited is its major contribution in the making of Bay Rum.

Bay Rum was sold in apothecary shops and stores such as R. H. Macy’s, beginning in the closing days of the 19th century. It was a staple on the islands of the Caribbean where the ills of humid weather and insect bites were figuratively wiped away with one splash to the body. All this with a masculine scent, sans the often over bearing strength of many colognes on the market today.
Our Bay Oil used for our Bay Rum, is sourced from the island of Dominica in the Caribbean. Arguably, it is considered one of the best bay oils still crafted in the old-fashioned way. There is no synthetic fragrance used here to produce our premium pure bay oil. Beginning in the 1950’s, Bay Rum was often sold in attractive glass bottles, catering to the burgeoning tourist trade, in gift stores. But the indigenous islanders picked up their supply of Bay Rum, often bottled in reclaimed beer bottles, (usually Heineken), which were scooped up from the Saturday evening trash bins, outside the local bars and restaurants, by island entrepreneurs.
